Rush Hour

This composition of anonymous figures by George Segal evokes the deep isolation that can occur even when we are surrounded by others. The bronze sculptures are made from casts formed by applying plaster-dipped gauze directly onto the faces and clothed bodies of the models, who were friends and neighbors of the artist. Segal says that each figural form "is a distinct psychological portrait."
