Pot-Pourri Vase and Cover, c.1760-65

Part of a pair. Decorated with a claret ground with reserves on one side of finely painted interior genre scenes from prints after paintings by Chardin. The subjects are: The morning 'toilette' and 'The Diligent Mother'. Probably painted by John Donaldson. The reverse is gilded with exotic birds in landscape. Mark: Gold anchor to both. The Lady Ludlow collection, gift of the Art Fund 2004
