Alyssa Swanson explores narrative by extending her voice into abstract objects through the safety of craft. Yarn, thread, needles and crochet hooks become tools as she weaves influences of her family and mentors to construct an alternative language. The resulting objects and images are apparitions of her experience and materialized internal conversations.

Alyssa Swanson earned her MFA in 2D Studies from Bowling Green State University in 2019 and she holds a BA in Art, specialized in Painting and Drawing, from the College of St. Scholastica . She has exhibited throughout the Midwest and lives in Minnesota.
