In Honour of Wildness

This was the first painting I completed for the exhibition in this painting I am aiming to both and capture and honour both the beauty and fragility of wild places and the connection to nature they offer.

Poem In honour of wildness:

I enter the guest, a humbled stranger in a familiar land. Feeling vulnerable tenderness Held in awe. Life’s complexities melt in to simplicity in a balm of spaciousness… immersed…. separation and connection meet in the same breath.

Light dances through leaves soft silk water reflections pirouette around rocks smoothed by cool running water.

Layers of sound-scapes : lilting birdsong insect’s drone rustling in the undergrowth breezes breathing through trees. A distant crack

Petrichor permeates the air. Dampness hanging on differing bark textures ants busily undeterred as birds come closer.

Dusk falls, colours change

Treasuring these wild places now so rare I feel the earth living through me again. Touching my transient ephemeral life – such a small part of this great story.

Pulled into contemplative grateful presence I hear the answers inside me in a gentle homecoming.
