Chest-on-chest

Unknown Artist

Until its acquisition by the Museum, this chest remained in the great landholding Van Rensselaer family of Albany, New York. Note the wide cornice, canted-and-fluted corners, front claw feet with carved knees, and ogee-bracket rear feet—all typical of New York furniture design.
