Caricature of a Man at the Café Royal
The drawing was previously attributed to William Rothenstein (1872 - 1945) although it is now thought to be made that Rothenstein's younger brother Albert Rutherston (1881 - 1953). The inscription, however, suggests that Rothenstein contributed to this drawing. If so he probably over worked the head and the shadows on the left. The spots of blue pencil are presumably the eyes referred to in the inscription. This drawing and another like it (WAG 6280) are mounted/displayed with two other caricatures by Rothenstein.
