This box (nécessaire) contains sewing and personal items including scissors and a needle-case, ear and toothpicks. On the front a boy is blowing a long alpine shepherd’s horn beneath a tree with extravagantly curling branches and roots. The decoration recalls prints by South German masters of the middle of the 18th century, such as François de Cuvilliés (b.1695, d.1768) and J.S. and J.B. Klauber.
