Sriranganatha Temple complex at Srirangam
Unknown Artist
Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu
This temple is the most important in the list of the 108 divyadeshams of Vishnu. The painting depicts smaller shrines dedicated to deities and Vaishnava saints. The painting probably commemorates the construction of a pilgrim rest house by a Shaiva sanyasi, Ariakudi Chidambaram Chettiar, whose portrait is seen in the inset.
