Yermine Richardson

ARCHIVED: We Come in Peace - by Yermine Richardson

Caribbean artist currently based inBarcelona, Yermine, invites us to go on a journey through this installation. This window represents a portal to a futuristic galaxy featuring colourful figures that represent and celebrate our diverse global community. The light, colour, texture and masked figures are true to the artist's work and a real 3D realistion of his galaxy.

It is the artist's duty, so Yermine believes, to reaffirm a sense of joy and optimism, something that has somehow been lost in our day to day due to the pandemic. This window invites audiences to see the richness of the world's culture, embrace our own identity as contributing to this richness, and finally celebrate this diversity within our local community and around the world.

The Show Windows, which is produced as part of the Coventry City of Culture programme, is inspired by L Frank Baum (author of the Oz books) and his publication on the art of shop windows displays.

The Show Windows is co-produced in Partnership by Coventry City of Culture Trust, Coventry Business Improvement District and RIBA and curated by Charlie Levine. The Show Windows is funded by Arts Council England.
