This creature from the deep is called a Cidaris Tubuloides or Sea Urchin. It has a yellowy brown body with brown and grey spikes. It was collected during the research voyage of the HMS Challenger. The expedition of HMS Challenger made the first major study of the world’s oceans between 1872 and 1876. They visited all of Earth’s oceans and took samples at 362 locations. Marine animal specimens were sent to Professor W. C. McIntosh at the University of St Andrews for expert analysis.
