Moving Architecture
In this video tour, architect Tarveen Virdi and yoga and dance practitioners The In-Between invite us to see and move through Coventry in a brand new way.
Coventry-born and bred, architect Tarveen Virdi (Hawkins\Brown) has chosen five favourite places in the city centre that offer serenity amid the hustle and bustle of urban life.
We invited movement practitioners The In-Between to visit Tarveen's peaceful spaces and devise creative movements that encourage us to reuse public spaces and promote personal wellbeing.
We often take for granted the ways in which the built environment impacts how we move our bodies, our posture, how we feel, our body language. Just as architecture affects our movements, our bodies also have the power to influence what buildings symbolise and our experiences of them.
See and move through Coventry in a new way – and watch the city be moved.

Biographies:
The-In-Between is a collaboration between writer and personal trainer Kole Fulmine and dancer Mariana Lorenzano who use their preferred medium of language and dance to express emotion.
Kole Fulmine (pronouns: they/them) is a trans-masc, non-binary writer. They are currently writing an interdisciplinary, practice-led doctoral project that will take them toward understanding queer and trans bodies in the wellness industry. They are also a full-time personal trainer, running coach and yoga teacher for the queer community.
Mariana Lorenzano (pronouns: she/they) is a dancer with classical and contemporary background. They create projects to bring communities together, build individual confidence and empower participants with the premise that we are all dancers, and all dance is valid. Owner of Ballet North, Mariana looks to break all stereotypes of ballet by offering creative, inclusive and non-gendered dance classes to children.
Tarveen Virdi (pronouns: she/her) is an Architect at Hawkins\Brown with a keen interest in architectural theory, cultural differences and the amalgamation of architecture and fashion. She has previously investigated how memory, time and events re-shape and re-define space and place, culminating in her final masters project based in Cuba focusing on fashion and women’s rights.
