Queen Victoria Bedroom Set
Unknown Maker
The early Victorian furniture in this room was supplied by Webb of London, for the visit of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and Princess Vicky in 1844. The bed is French - in a carved rococo style with scrolls, foliage and flowers - upholstered in contemporary padded crimson silk damask.
The cushions on the bed were embroidered by Anne, 6th Duchess of Atholl. Note the ducal coronet and the initials ‘AA’ for Anne Atholl. The Duchess became a life-long friend of Queen Victoria and her Mistress of the Bedchamber, the chief lady in waiting.
