Counterpane, Bolton type
This hand-loom-woven white cotton bed cover was made in one piece. The design is picked out in raised loops of heavy cotton weft threads. The heavy pattern wefts are in a 2:2 proportion to the lighter-weight main wefts. The piece has a central eight-pointed star motif, which is surrounded by various borders. It is self-fringed on all four sides.
