A portrait commissioned for £100 21 years ago from artist Ken Cozens has surfaced as a will bequest to the art gallery where he now works.
The 5ft by 4ft portrait in oils of Mrs Margaret Harrison, whose husband was a former immigration officer in Middlesbrough, has been left to the gallery now Mr Bill Harrison has died and his widow is moving into smaller accomodation.
"It's good to see the work again," said Mr Cozens, who is Middlesbrough Council's fine arts officer. "The couple believed in encouraging new artists at that time, and I was delighted to receive the commisson."
