Plaque, of steel, embossed and boldly chased with an equestrian figure in a slashed costume, bearing a sceptre, and wearing a crowned bonnet, probably representing the Emperor Charles V within a framework of scrolled strapwork with cornucopias at the base; at the top three rivets with heads shaped as bearded masks; at the bottom is an oblong slit governed by a spring-catch. The plaque, which is oblong in shape, with the lower part rounded, must have formed the lid of some utensil not yet identified. It is too large for a bullet pouch, as formerly suggested.
