Waddesdon Manor was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild (1839 - 1898) from 1874 to display his collection of French decorative arts alongside English portraits and Dutch Old Master paintings. The interiors were designed to recall the great French houses and palaces of the 18th century. Created for entertaining, the Renaissance-style house sits in one of the the finest Victorian garden in Britain.
