A Wonderful World of Words and Harmony
Ten Coventry based poet and sound artists have created brand new works inspired by The Show Windows, a programme of new art and architecture installation in shop windows dotted throughout Coventry City Centre to celebrate its year as UK City of Culture 2021.
The Show Windows is inspired by the author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz books, L. Frank Baum, and his seminal book, 'The Art of Decorating Dry Goods', which set out a series of rules to work with when creating shop window displays. The Show Windows also invites audiences to journey, like Dorothy from the Oz books, into lands of imagination through the window installation, and now these new spoken word pieces.
This tour invites you to listen to each work and hear more about The Show Windows through lyrical descriptions of the artworks, what they inspire in the authors, or the journeys they've taken as they look through the window's glazing.
Featured in this tour, in order of apprearence, are: Sujatha Menon Lib Oration featuring Jenny Egerton Emilie Lauren Jones Chris Fernandez Theo Ioannou Alison Manning Nick Knibb aka The Archbishop Indira Lakshmi (Lucifer Sky) Alexandra Johnson Steve Jones (Stylusboy)
