Bridesmaid's Search for the Desert Rose

"This piece created out of flameworked vintage rosalene cullet and found glass is one of my favorites. To me this piece represents a path forward and looking towards a higher spiritual plane. The bridesmaid figure stands in a desert with the giraffe as a totem animal, a guide. She is standing with her sidekick kitten and at the base of the pyramid are two swans representing the search for love. The sun surrounded by roses stands shines brightly overhead. The giraffe is a rare piece made by Fenton using antique Heisey moulds in 1992. Only 450 giraffes were made." - Amber Cowan

Amber Cowan's sculptural glasswork is based around the use of recycled, upcycled, and second-life American pressed glass. She uses the process of flame working, hot-sculpting and glassblowing to create large-scale sculptures that overwhelm the viewer with ornate abstraction and viral accrual.
